Visit to Jaipur – India’s ‘Pink City’

The next stop of our trip to India was Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’. Known for its rich history and culture, Jaipur is the capital of north-western Indian state Rajasthan. It received its nickname ‘Pink City’ due to the dominant colour scheme of the buildings in the old city. In 2019, the city was added to the World Heritage Cities list, acknowledging its incredible beauty. Jaipur has excellent flight and railway connectivity, making it ideal for corporate events. Also, the city is no stranger to unique venues, 5-star luxury hotels and above and beyond customer service. During our visit, we were immediately made to feel welcome by the warm and friendly staff.

Our DMC partner and their team at Akbar Holidays made sure that we were looked after for the entirety of our research trip, organising a wonderful itinerary and allowing us to visit the most incredible places. Amber Fort

Our journey began with a visit to the Amber Fort, one of Jaipur’s most famous landmarks. Travelling to the fort was no less memorable than the structure itself. We took a traditional elephant ride to the top of the hill, which was an unforgettable experience. There is the option to walk to the fort, but the elephant ride allowed us to experience an important part of Indian culture. Once we’d reached the fort, we were blown away by its incredible beauty. With grand archways, elegant domed roofs and the majestic 7 mile (12km) Amer Wall which surrounds it, the Amber Fort is breathtaking.

The interior is just as magnificent as the exterior, with walls adorned with intricate mirror work. Not a single part of the room was left untouched by beauty: ceilings, floors, pillars and walls were all adorned with intricate patterns with each room being unique from the others. Visiting Jaipur’s Amber Fort is a non-negotiable if you’re planning to visit India.

Leela Palace

Our first site inspection of the city was of The Leela Palace: a masterpiece of modern luxury. The property was gorgeous, and the architecture reflected both regal and modern elements. We were greeted by a performance, making us feel welcome immediately. The hotel’s event facilities were amazing, including everything from a grand ballroom with a high ceiling to outdoor private dining areas. It’s clear to us why the hotel is especially popular for gala dinners and car launches. The Leela’s commitment to high quality service, alongside its lush gardens and ornate design, make it a top-tier option for companies looking to blend business with cultural sophistication. The hotel was opened in 2021 and is part of the Preferred Hotels group.

Rambagh Palace

Our next site inspection was the Rambagh Palace, which was once the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur. Now under ownership of Taj Hotels, the property exudes timeless elegance and grandeur. Alongside its undeniable beauty, the Rambagh Palace is perfect for all event needs. A range of event spaces are available including: gardens, exclusive meeting rooms, terraces, and regal ballrooms which can accommodate up to 800 delegates. This venue is guaranteed to leave a unique yet luxury mark on your event.

Rajasthan Cottage Industries

Another important part of our trip was a visit to the Rajasthan Cottage Industries, a shopping mall with everything from hand-printed textiles, gemstones, finely carved marble décor and high-quality jewellery. The staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, fitting us with brightly coloured saaris, ready for our visit to the Taj Mahal – which will feature in our upcoming blog about our Trip to Agra –  these were tailored to fit us perfectly and hand-delivered back to our hotel. Any souvenirs purchased from the mall can also be shipped back home upon request. The craftsmanship and expertise of the owner and his team was wonderful and there was an excellent variety of merchandise available to buy.

Jantar Mantar

Another notable visit in Jaipur is Jantar Mantar, a remarkable 18th-Century astronomical observatory. A collection of 19 astronomical instruments, Jantar Mantar can predict eclipses, measure time, track major stars and much more. Acknowledged as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it also features the world’s largest stone sundial. This attraction would be a brilliant team-building activity for corporate groups interested in science and history. Built from local stone and marble, it’s difficult not to admire these majestic and historical structures.

After experiencing the wonders of Jaipur, it was clear to us that India’s ‘Pink City’ is a remarkable destination for corporate travel. From world-class hotels, excellent connectivity, unique venues, rich culture and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, visiting Jaipur was an experience like no other. Whether it’s an incentive trip, conference, product launch or gala dinner, Jaipur is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on delegates with its unique charm and vibrant atmosphere.

Our next stop on our trip to India will be Agra, the city that houses the infamous Taj Mahal. Our next blog about our visit to Agra will be coming out soon.
