We recently visited the beautiful country of Slovenia for a research and development trip and what an incredible discovery it was. Located in Central Europe, Slovenia is most well-known for its impressive mountains, lakes and beautiful scenery, yet we discovered that there is a lot more to this remarkable country than what meets the eye.
We began our adventure with a warm welcome at the InterContinental Hotel in the capital of Ljubljana. We were immediately blown away by the gorgeous blend of traditional Baroque architecture and modern flare that the city offered. Since the hotel was located only a 10 minute walk from the bustling centre of Ljubljana, which is lined with vibrant restaurants and bars, which can also accommodate exclusively for groups. The city also features the impressive Triple Bridge which passes over the Ljubljanica River. At the wonderful 11th Century Ljubljana Castle, we experienced a fantastic sunset. Ljubljana Castle overlooks the city and is the perfect setting for customised events. They offer 11 different halls for up to 800 people and a stunning courtyard for outdoor events. This is the perfect opportunity for a unique event location with a gorgeous view.
On our second day, we arrived at the breathtaking Lake Bled, which is located in Northwestern Slovenia in the Julian Alps a 45 minute drive. It is surrounded by an incredible view of mountains and abundant greenery. Lake Bled offers a variety of activities such as boat trips, zipline Dolinka, which spans 4km long, rafting, paragliding, hiking, and canoeing, just to name a few. We also offer a glamping incentive around the lake. For more information about glamping around Lake Bled, see here: Slovenia’s Ultimate Incentive Trip: Luxury Glamping at Lake Bled (staryourworld.com) The castle on Lake Bled Island (Bled castle) is also brilliant for private groups: they allow you to rent many of their facilities such as the Knights’ Hall, Ceremonial Room, and Upper Courtyard, allowing for a picturesque view of the lake and an unforgettable experience.
Following this, we visited a sustainable hotel in Bohinj, called Hotel Bohinj which was lovely. The hotel offers a youthful spirit blended with a relaxed atmosphere, reflected by its enchanting spa and wellness facilities: saunas, massages, weightless water beds, and many private wellness packages. This hotel is the idyllic relaxing getaway and is only a short drive from the picturesque Lake Bled. Not only that, but this hotel is also great to combine with ski groups in the winter.
We also experienced the thrill of exploring the Postojna Cave, which is the second longest cave system in the country. The cave really is a magical opportunity that should not be passed during a visit to Slovenia. We took a ride on the underground train and viewed the captivating and intricate details of the structures that ornate the mysterious cavern. The tour lasts for 90 minutes and audio guides are available in 17 different languages. We can offer cave tours for your groups.
On our final day in Slovenia, we travelled to the extraordinary 5-star Kempinski Palace Hotel on the southern coast, facing the Adriatic Sea. We were hosted by the hotel to a wonderful lunch and were graciously given a tour. Although the exterior of the palace was breathtaking, we were equally stunned by the ornate and glamorous interior, which was embellished with gorgeous chandeliers, art pieces and the most luxurious fabrics and sophisticated details which really contributed to the rich atmosphere.
On our way back, we had the chance to see Lipica, the largest Lipizzaner stud farm in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The white Lipizzaner horses are native to Slovenia and are one of the oldest cultural breeds in the world. It was lovely to see the horses and the scenery in the farm was stunning. The farm has many great events that run throughout the year and allow brilliant opportunities to visit.
Overall, Slovenia is an exciting country with lots to offer and our visit was truly an unforgettable experience.
